Printer Configuration

If you are printing paper claims, you must configure your printer. This page describes how to align your printer to a red CMS-1500 claim form.

Important Notes:

  • A red CMS-1500 claim form is required.
  • Supported browsers are Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome.
  • Must allow pop-ups.
  • Confirm the browser’s PDF settings. You may experience difficulty with printer configuration if the browser’s PDF settings are not set to the correct defaults. For instructions, go to the Recommended Browser PDF Settings page.
  • Must select Auto-Rotate and Center.
  • Must select Page Scaling as None.
  • On newer operating systems, select Actual Size.
  • Always use the first test claim as a starting point.

  • On the menu bar, click Admin then Printer Configuration.

  • Click Add A Printer.
  • Options to edit and archive printers are available.

  • Name the printer.
  • Select the manufacturer and model. If the printer’s manufacturer or model is not displayed, select Other.
  • Load the printer with a red CMS-1500 claim form.
  • Click Print Test Claim.

Print-3
  • A PDF of the CMS-1500 claim form pops up. Click the Print icon on the PDF.
  • Note: The following two steps are mandatory. If these settings are not selected, the printer will NOT align.
  • Select Page Scaling as None.
  • Confirm that Auto-Rotate and Center are selected.
  • Check the first test claim from the printer. If the test claim is perfectly aligned, save the settings. If not, hold onto the first test claim and move onto the next step.
  • Note: When looping back through the alignment wizard, the first test print is the starting point.
Print-4
  • Click Print Alignment Wizard.
  • Select Page Scaling as None.
  • Confirm that Auto-Rotate and Center are selected.

Print-5
  • Mimic this display using the alignment wizard.
  • Record how many clicks (up, down, right, left) were used to center the text properly.
  • Click Print Test Claim.
  • After the screen looks exactly like the first test claim, scroll to the bottom of the screen and click Print Test Claim. If the claim is perfectly aligned, save the settings. If not, repeat the above three steps.

Note: When repeating these steps, remember that the first test claim printed is the starting point.
Example: After clicking up five times and to the right five times, the printed claim is still too far up and to the right. Try moving the screen up and to the right six times.
