Saving Data in In Touch EMR

How Data Saves in In Touch EMR

In Touch EMR Saves Your Data in 4 Ways

1. Save Button

The save button is available throughout all the sections of the documentation.

  • Subjective and Objective section, you will find it at the top and bottom of the page.

  • Flowsheet section - inside the Flowsheet pop up and it will say “Save Flowsheet. This button must be clicked before exiting the flowsheet.

  • Assessment section - only one button at the bottom

  • Plan of Care, the button is called “Save as Draft”. The second button “Generate Plan of Care” will save the data AND create a separate PDF for the Plan of care as a stand alone document.

  • Claim Review - the save billing button is available at the bottom of the page.

Note: at least one CPT code is required for the claim review to be saved. Click the Refresh button at the top of the page to transfer the CPT information in the Flowsheet to the claim review or manually add CPT codes by clicking the “Add Row” or “CPT Selector” button.

Confirmation that your Data has been Saved

Once clicked the system will provide a blue confirmation button at the left top corner of the page letting you know that the data for that section has been saved.

Here are some examples:

2. Autosave

In Touch EMR automatically saves data in all tabs (except the flowsheet) in all notes at regular intervals. In Touch EMR also displays a green notification box so the user knows exactly when the data was last ‘autosaved’

PRO TIP: Take a look at the time when the data was last saved before clicking away from the page. This ensures that all the latest entries have been saved.

3. Floating ‘Follow’ buttons in every note

At the top right of the screen you will see colorful floating set of buttons in each note type in In Touch EMR. These buttons ‘follow’ the user as the user scrolls down the page of each note type.

S → Subjective

O → Objective

F → Flowsheet

A → Assessment

P → Plan

C → Claim Review

D → Patient Dashboard

Once clicked, this will automatically save data in ALL tabs AND automatically redirect you to the section that you have chosen.

Please allow 2-3 seconds to get all tabs saved using the floating button. This will save you a significant amount of time because you won’t have to click on the save button on each tab or wait for the autosave. So we encourage you to use the floating tabs.

The SOFAPCD button offers the convenience of having these buttons follow you on every page even in the middle of the page. So you do not have to scroll up or down to get to the saved button.

4. Save Billing

In the Claim review section, save billing now also saves all of your tab. This is to ensure that all tabs have been saved prior to the finalization of your note.

Note: Clicking on the save billing will still check your Subjective section if all mandatory fields have been completed. Hence, you will need to complete all mandatory fields and save your Subjective first prior to clicking on save billing in Claim review.

How to Verify Data is Saved

Click on the PDF icon at the top of the note

In Touch EMR will automatically open a new tab with a PDF file displaying all the latest data saved to the note.

Mandatory Documentation Fields

Some fields in In Touch EMR are mandatory. However, a ‘mandatory field override’ can be enabled by the administrator, for specific users.

In Touch EMR wants to ensure that all documentation is following the Medicare compliance guidelines.

We have created the following fields mandatory in the Subjective section to ensure that users fill out these fields

  • Related Appointment
  • Date when first reported and nature of symptoms
  • Primary Diagnosis (Only required for Medicare patients)
  • Encounter Diagnosis
  • Chief Complaint
  • Current Functional Status
  • Current Functional Limitations
  • Patient Function Prior to Injury

Failure to provide an entry to any of these fields will result in data not being saved in the Subjective

PRO TIP: The administrator can enable the Mandatory Override feature in the administration section and the system will still save data for that user, even if one or more of the mandatory fields are not entered.
